Individuals interested in liposuction should have good skin tone, a lot of generated fat, and looking to shape a specific body area. Dr. Decherd can achieve this through various liposuction techniques, such as tumescent liposuction, or the super-wet technique. The most common method is tumescent, which is performed by injecting a vaso-constricting fluid consisting of numbing agents and saline prior to fat removal. Typically, the fat will be removed through a small incision using a suction tube known as a cannula, which is provided by a vacuum pump.

Corpus Christi liposuction patients who have loose skin may wish to opt for excisional surgery, such as tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”), as liposuction does not correct loose skin. Those with poor skin tone that doesn’t retract as easily, may be better suited for skin removal surgeries.
