“Mommy Makeover” Plastic Surgery

Depending on the target area(s) and the patient’s goals, Dr. Decherd may perform breast augmentation surgery (“augmentation mammaplasty”), breast lift surgery (“mastopexy”), breast reduction (“reduction mammaplasty”), and/or tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”).

Different approaches may be utilized during a tummy tuck procedure depending on the severity of the excess sagging skin and amount of fat. In some cases, if a patient has good skin elasticity and no sagging skin, she may be a better-suited candidate for liposuction (“lipoplasty”); this involves fat removal and no skin excision. When sagging skin and stretch marks are apparent, Dr. Decherd will perform either a full tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck (for minimal sagging skin). Liposuction can also be performed with a tummy tuck to address excess fat in the flanks and sides of the abdomen.

Many women also choose liposuction of the outer and inner thighs to achieve the best results.

Individuals interested in liposuction should have good skin tone, a lot of generated fat, and looking to shape a specific body area. Dr. Decherd can achieve this through various liposuction techniques, such as tumescent liposuction, or the super-wet technique. The most common method is tumescent, which is performed by injecting a vaso-constricting fluid consisting of numbing agents and saline prior to fat removal. Typically, the fat will be removed through a small incision using a suction tube known as a cannula, which is provided by a vacuum pump.

Corpus Christi liposuction patients who have loose skin may wish to opt for excisional surgery, such as tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”), as liposuction does not correct loose skin. Those with poor skin tone that doesn’t retract as easily, may be better suited for skin removal surgeries.
